Why isn't the concept of 'third ' more widespread in the western LGBT community?

I think it should be, after all let's face it: the vast majority of us are more ore less gender-non-conformant and we're not doing it on purpose, it's just the natural way our psyche is built. In a society so strongly built around gender it would be in our benefit to aknoledge a third .
