Would the military fight alongside its citizens or against us in case of the rise of a tyrannical dictatorship?

Well... the Constitution trumps the Uniform Code of Military Justice as far as I know, but there would no doubt be people taking both sides. As far as being in the military, I'm going in... not there yet though.
