What's another word for "held accountable for" ?

Working cl citizens are held to the higher and stricter standards, while our supposed leaders and politicians break laws, bend laws, lie, cheat steal, murder and we do not hold them accountable, the word true justice comes to mind, and until we start inflicting real justice on our government, we can not whine, when they get away with it.
