If a person is less intelligent and informed than you are...?

It really depends on the subject at hand. They are plenty of subjects where I would say a layman's opinion would be just a valid as an expert. Politics and social sciences is a perfect place where even an expert could always learn at least a little bit from the average person. Physical sciences and other subjects that deal specifically with facts is a place where I'd place less stock in a layman's opinion.
