If i excersise MORE and only consume 1500 calories a day will my body go into starvation mode?

"Starvation mode" has been thrown around like nothing I've ever seen. There does exist a point where the body slows down in order to conserve energy. It will naturally slow down when dieting anyway, but there is definitely a low in which the heart rate slows, the body grows lanugo (fuzz), and other things occur in order to keep you alive. 1,500 or even something as low as 800 calories a day is not going to throw you into the exaggerated starvation mode. Honestly, most of the things said about this mode are not based on any scientific observation, but are rather spouted by people who are simply repeating what they've heard. There's no arbitrary caloric limit (some say under 1,200, others say under 1,000) at which everyone kicks into this mode and then starts packing on weight. If it does exist, it only slows weight loss. Rationality tells us that you can't gain weight or maintain it while taking in fewer calories than you expend.
