2nd floor stair stringers are not fully bearing on the floor framing due to improper cut - how to fix?

Having a custom house built and just got back my first inspection report. I was charged top dollar for a free floating hourgl staircase. According to my inspector the second floor stair stringers are not fully bearing on the floor framing due to an improper cut. The stair builder says that to correct this he plans to use an L bracket. My question is will this sufficiently correct the problem? What sort of problems can arise down the line due to this improper cut? Will the stairs be creaky or worse, unstable? Should I insist that they re-cut the stringer? Any insight from professionals would be greatly appreciated. I have a photo of the stringer also if needed.
